What are the minimum requirements for the PC or laptop I intend to connect to the TiscaliSat modem?
The TiscaliSat Model 360™ satellite modem, used for single user version, will be connected to a PC or laptop computer that you must provide. That PC or laptop must meet the following minimum specifications:
- Pentium-class processor
- 64 Mb RAM
- 120 MB of available hard-drive space
- CD-ROM drive
- Ethernet or USB port
- Operating systems: Microsoft® Windows® 98, Windows® 98SE, Windows® 2000, Windows® Me or Windows® XP
I already have satellite television service. Do I really need the extra equipment or can I use the same dish?
No, the dish used for TiscaliSat is specially designed and manufactured for the transmission of signal back to the satellite as well as receiving a signal. Most TV satellite dishes are only built to receive a signal. The TiscaliSat dish is also built to a higher specification and tolerance and therefore costs considerably more.
I already have satellite television service. Can I use the TiscaliSat dish to receive a TV signal?
In some countries "free to air" TV is broadcast via satellite. In others, satellite TV requires a special decoder and subscription to receive the programming. Because this differs in each country you should refer to your countries web-site for TiscaliSat to see if we offer a TV package alongside TiscaliSat.
Must I use specific browsers to surf through TiscaliSat?
Yes, you must use only Netscape or Miscrosoft Internet Explorer. TiscaliSat service uses network configurations and protocols that help accelerate data transfers over the satellite connection to improve upload and download speeds. Browsing software from some online service providers may override, modify or disable TiscaliSat's configurations and protocols. We have tested some popular online service software and found difficulties; this is because some proprietary ISP software cannot take advantage of the enhancements TiscaliSat uses to improve performance over the satellite.
How big is the dish?
The dish is 75cm in diameter and is elliptical in shape.
How many and how big are the holes in the walls to fix the antenna?
This depends upon the fixing and location; but in general there are 4 holes of 8mm diameter to secure a supporting base that holds the dish in situ.
Is the dish windproof?
Yes, the dish is quite robust and if properly installed will not move under normal wind conditions.
