What is the TiscaliSat service?
TiscaliSat is a new product from Tiscali that provides high-speed, two-way satellite-delivered Internet service to consumers; this means that you don't need a telephone line to act as a return channel for the connection to work, no more second lines and no more busy tone on your phone line. TiscaliSat will provide access to the Internet across Europe, in the countries in which Tiscali operates, via a satellite dish. The technology behind TiscaliSat is from Gilat Satellite Networks, a leading global satellite service provider.
Can I use multiple users/PCs with my TiscaliSat?
There will be 2 types of TiscaliSat based on the hardware provided and bandwidth allocated to each: Single user (with the installation of Model 360 satellite modem) and Multi user (with the installation of Model 180 satellite modem).
What computer hardware and peripherals do I need to run TiscaliSat?
TiscaliSat includes a dish antenna and a TiscaliSat satellite modem (Model 360 for single users or Model 180 for up to 6 users) that connects to a USB or an Ethernet port on your existing PC. No telephone connection, dial-up account or separate Internet service provider account is needed.
If this is a new service, how can you say that TiscaliSat uses "field-proven" technology?
While new to the consumer market in Europe, TiscaliSat's service is powered by satellite technology from Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. ("Gilat"). This technology has been the wide-area networking platform of choice for major businesses throughout the world for many years. Where is the TiscaliSat service available?
